At Grooves of Houston we’re seeking staff members who make long-lasting great impressions and cater to our patrons with proficiency and professionalism.  We expect our staff to have enthusiasm for their role, provide exceptional customer service, and ensure our patrons have a great experience so they’ll want to return.  We are seeking hostesses, servers, bartenders, bouncers, cooks, food expeditors, and dishwashers.  For inquiries, please indicate your position of interest, provide a brief description of your background, and submit your current resume to info@houstongrooves.com.  We look forward to speaking with you!

The hostess is the first impression of Grooves!  First impressions only happen once, so we seek hostesses who are presentable, professional, and personable.  Their demeanor must be one of tact, class, and comfort.  Hostesses should be comfortable with managing the variety of tasks, personalities, and demands of our venue on any given night.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Greet, welcome, and assist guests entering Grooves in a friendly, positive, and informative manner so they will want to return.
  • Seat and direct guests, informing them of their reservation status and/or seat availability.
  • Answer the phone and provide menus to guests as needed.
  • Receive and monitor reservations accordingly, requesting and obtaining pre-payment as required.
  • Maintain clean hostess station and entrance.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail, multi-task and manage a variety of tasks quickly and appropriately.
  • Monitor status of events, seating, reservations, and venue capacity.
  • Communicate well with front door staff and wait staff.
  • Exhibit exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Our servers are inviting and keep Grooves patrons coming back!  They maintain high levels of professionalism and courtesy that attract guests by providing exceptional customer service, selling knowledge of our drinks and menu items, and maintaining a clean, organized work space.   Constant customer interaction is essential to ensure care and timeliness of service.  This opportunity requires long periods of walking, standing, and carrying heavy trays of drinks and food which can be physically hectic. Bottle service experience is a plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Greet, welcome, and serve guests in a friendly, positive manner so they will want to return.
  • Exhibit strong working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as our food menu.
  • Respond appropriately to guest needs and do so with a sense of urgency.
  • Itemize guest tabs correctly and secure payment as required.
  • Maintain clean, dry tables and workstations throughout each shift as well as replenish silverware, condiments, and supplies.
  • Perform other job related responsibilities when assigned.
  • TABC certification required.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills and a good professional appearance.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Our bartenders are one of the best assets of Grooves!  They communicate with guests with enthusiasm, anticipate guests’ needs and are alert to signals to catch their attention.  Bartenders are responsible for preparing and serving drinks for bar patrons and servers serving guests.  This opportunity requires long periods of standing, serving, and mixing drinks which can be physically hectic.  Previous bartender experience is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Greet, welcome, and serve guests in a friendly, positive manner so they will want to return.
  • Work with additional bar staff and servers to keep the bar area clean, dry, and stocked.
  • Exhibit strong working knowledge of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages as well as our food menu.
  • Refrain from serving drinks to guests who appear to be intoxicated and call for taxi when necessary.
  • Maintain guest tabs correctly and secure payment as required.
  • Perform other job related responsibilities when assigned.
  • TABC certification required.
  • Must possess exceptional customer service skills and a good professional appearance.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Bouncers and doorkeepers provide the most important service for Grooves – that of safety and security!  They are entrusted with the responsibility of making sure underage visitors do not enter the venue nor do they allow an out of control guest to remain on the premises.  Previous experience as a bouncer or doorkeeper is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Request and recognize proper legal identification from guests and obtain cover charge payments.
  • Exhibit quick and effective decision making in the event a situation gets out of control.
  • Must be alert and aware of surroundings at all times, proactive about problems that may escalate and able to recognize false identification.
  • Must be able to communicate well with all guests, including unruly guests as well as law enforcement in the event of an altercation.
  • Must be able to break up fights or altercations and physically remove people from the premises or restrain them until law enforcement arrives.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

From salads and crawfish to wings and waffles, our guests love our southern flavors!  Our cooks are known for throwing down so experience preparing southern cuisine and juggling all aspects of running a kitchen are a must!  This opportunity requires long periods of standing, multi-tasking, and working with items of various temperatures in a fast paced, demanding environment.  Previous experience as a cook is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have proven experience as a cook.
  • Must be able to pay attention to detail, follow recipes, multi-task and manage a variety of tasks quickly and efficiently, such as work on different orders simultaneously.
  • Exhibit working knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, broiling, baking, frying, boiling, etc.).
  • Strong working knowledge of seasonings and ability to prepare ingredients to use while cooking (chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.)
  • Ensure all food and related items are stored properly.
  • Check food while cooking to stir or turn.
  • Responsible for keeping food preparation area, kitchen, grill, stovetop, ovens, and walk-in refrigerators clean and organized.
  • Responsible for monitoring grocery stock, placing orders and restocking low supplies.
  • Must exhibit safe, sanitary food-handling practices.  Food Handler certification preferred.
  • Must be a team player and work well with all staff.
  • Exhibit strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Culinary school is a plus.

Our key to providing guests with quality food service are our Food Expeditors!  Expeditors are the intermediaries between servers and cooks and manage the accuracy, quality, presentation, delivery, and timeliness of food orders. This opportunity requires long periods of standing, multi-tasking, and paying close attention to detail in a fast paced, demanding environment.  Previous experience as a server, cook, or food expeditor is preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ensure food is prepared accurately and delivered in a timely way so that it is ready and warm for each guest.
  • Responsible for making sure each aspect of food is safe, prepared correctly, and tasteful.
  • Responsible for final presentation of the plate, making sure it is dressed and garnished correctly and free from inaccuracies, smudges, or spills.
  • Direct kitchen staff, cooks, and servers regarding special orders and menu item availability.
  • Exhibit strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Food Handler certification is a plus.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

At Grooves we rely on our dishwashers and bussers to maintain the cleanliness of our venue and equipment to safeguard the sanitation of our facility and the public health of our staff and guests.  This opportunity requires long periods of standing, bending, cleaning, lifting and carrying heavy bins of dishes and trash which can be labor intensive.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clear tables, booths, bars, and work areas of used glasses, dishes, flatware, linens, and trash.
  • Maintain clean and orderly floors, bathrooms, and work areas which may include sweeping, mopping, and the cleaning of trash receptacles.
  • Wash and dry dishes, glassware, flatware, food preparation equipment, utensils, pots and pans using dishwashing machines and/or by hand.
  • Familiarity with handling water at extreme temperatures.
  • Must be quick and thorough to ensure cleanliness and availability of glassware, dishes, and flatware for guests.
  • Assist with the restocking of glasses, dishes, flatware, linens and condiments.
  • Perform other job related responsibilities when assigned.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend shifts, which may include holidays. Some private event shifts may be requested.
